With characteristic economy and deft sleight of hand, cryptic allusions can be answered by the borderline gruff. Among the gentler collisions, a beautifully plotted viola line at the start is briefly partnered with glassy string harmonics. A mere moment becomes centre-stage two minutes later, where these harmonics are in splendid isolation. They also conclude the piece.
